Who are we?

We were two to launch the website in 2014: Lucas Orsini and Dimitri Känel. We are very good friends and we have a strong interest in nature. "Jeunescientifiques" is the name we gave ourselves to introduce our small association of natural science enthusiasts. The website takes a lot of work, however it only reflects our activities. Since 2016, it has been decided to enlarge the group which now has 9 members; among them, mainly Friborg inhabitants. We all have a particular field of predilection and almost all are also keen on photography.

The idea of forming a group to share our experience is very motivating. The website allows all members to post content freely while respecting a certain rigor. We are almost all students and do not yet have professional training to do scientific work as such. However, in this group, we train! One becomes familiar with this particular world. We exchange information. Many of us are destined later to a scientific profession. Now that the group has expanded, the concept begins to grow. Everyone tastes a little to the passion of others. We meet periodically to go out in nature, observe animals, take pictures etc. We regularly attend conferences, exhibitions and activities related to science in general.

What do we find on this website?

We share information on a variety of topics. At the beginning, the website allowed us to post fact sheets on arthropod species that we had in breeding. We gave as much data as possible on these animals by addressing their particular characteristics. We shared our experience, difficulties, observations. Information was also given on the conditions of maintenance (temperature, hygrometry, arrangement of the terrarium, substrate, food, cycle time, etc.). Now the approach is more naturalistic, we are also interested in other subjects such as endangered species, vulgarization of studies. Returns are published on the conferences we are attending. Three members in the final year of the college posted their mature work on the site. The aim is also to centralize various activities / projects and give them visibility. The site also contains a large number of photos classified under various categories.

What are our motivations?

The main motivation is to contribute to the awareness of the respect of the natural world that surrounds us by the information. We are doing some sort of "natural propaganda". We live in a society that has less and less interest in nature. Our interest and our passions enable us to promote nature by presenting various biological facets of our beautiful planet. Indeed, in my opinion, people often unconsciously pollute and waste because they simply have no good reason not to! These are the reasons that must be described and better presented. For example, the concept of ecosystem and interdependence of species is unfortunately poorly understood. The website allows us to share these ideas but also to interact with the general public. We have regular constructive criticism that makes us progress and it's a chance to be exposed. Preserve nature and the wonder of life! Until proven otherwise, inter-species cohabitation is possible.
